Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Simply put in paragliding the single biggest problem the sport (and so pilots) suffer from is the lack of any accountability of organizations like the BHPA, who keep simply passing off most of their many accidents of as "Pilots Error" while I contend that most (not all) their accidents are in fact down to "Instruction Errors", which is why as I do NOT teach based on the same theory, practice & procedures at our club we do NOT suffer from those high rates... Until action is taken against those that do generate accidents improvements will be sadly delayed, so perhaps the answer is that ALL in the sport need to "Watch the watchers", and hold them accountable when they fail in their duty of care.... if you support through membership the BHPA then you ARE in part responsible fro what they do or do not do to improve THEIR safety record! |
