Rule One : Question Everything Except Rule Two

Rule Two : Never Question the Wisdom of Rule One

Pilots flying with PPC need to read and sign a copy of the form below.

IMPORTANT NOTICE;

 IF YOU WISH TO BE TRAINED USING THE THEORIES AND PROCEDURES THAT ARE IN COMMON USE IN THE UK THEN TRAINING AT PPC IS NOT FOR YOU......

HOWEVER IF LIKE US YOU DO BELIEVE THERE IS A DIRECT CONNECTION WITH THE ACCIDENTS, INJURIES AND DEATHS PARAGLIDING HAS (AND IS) SUFFERING FROM AND ARE PREPARED TO QUESTION EVERYTHING WE WELCOME YOU TO TRAIN WITH US.

RELEASE, WAIVER AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT

In consideration for being granted membership of the Precision Paragliding Club I, for myself, my personal representatives, heirs, executors, next of kin, spouse and assigns, do agree as follows:

I  RELEASE WAIVE AND DISCHARGE the following persons (“RELEASED PARTIES”) from any and all claims and liability for my personal injury, my bodily injury, my death, my property damage, and/or any other financial injury connected with my participation in the sport of paragliding, my participation in the Precision Paragliding Club, or the administration of any BHPC programs (e.g. the Pilot Rating Scheme), however caused, even if caused by the negligence (whether active or passive) of any of the RELEASED PARTIES, to the full extent allowed by law. The persons I am releasing, including their owners, officers, directors, agents, employees, spouses, officials (elected or otherwise), members, contractors, sub-contractors, lessors and lessees, and landowners

Sig. .................... ....... / ........ / ...........

RELEASED PARTIES; Precision Paragliding Club owners, associates and members, also members of ESP club that I may fly with on shared flying sites.

 I acknowledge that I have discussed the basic theory that is normally taught in paragliding and that on considered examination it does not hold up to be true, if at any time I no longer believe this to be so I will IMMEDIATELY state that and training will stop.

 Further more I have looked at the methods and practices used in the training courses (the 'Input') and there does seem to be a strong case that they are related to the number of accidents injuries and deaths in the UK  (the 'Output'). At all stages of training I will only proceed once I have satisfied myself that the current training stage is safe and appropriate.

 In view of the likely connection of Input and Output I voluntarily assume all risks for myself in training using the methods advocated by PPC which aim to give the pilots the necessary skills for those times when my judgement may have failed or conditions have change out with the normal flying range suitable for paragliding prior to me landing.

PPC training is aimed at training pilots to fly in the real conditions they will encounter when flying in the UK and NOT just in the 'light perfect conditions at the perfect site' as have been traditionally been used elsewhere, which often leave skills short of the level actually required for safe flying. I understand that some of the training, undertaken in real flying conditions, may increase the risk of the odd bruise/bump and accept that as in the long term it leads to a far safer pilot standard.

 Due to the majority of accidents in the UK being blamed on 'Pilot error', especial involving over control (stalls and spins etc.) I understand that during training I will use a range of gliders including the most 'tolerant to pilot errors' DHV 1 paragliders as well as those (within very limited conditions/locations) which due to their DHV rating have a much more direct link between control input and the resulting action of the glider. The design of 'training gliders' normally used in the UK is such that often pulling  an extra foot of control will have very little immediate effect, at PPC we feel this is connected with the UK's death rate; (typically as high as 1:1,000.)

 In addition to the physical skills taught PPC trains from day one to develop Pilot Judgement, I understand that should I fail to display good judgement and always take in to consideration of members of the public etc. as a first priority PPC reserves the right to cease training. Any use of common practices/equipment which breach UK airlaw will be regarded as grounds for end of training.

PPC trains from day one for 'safe regression'
